INDEPENDENT MEDIA / LIBERIA

Journalism is a form of visibility. And visibility matters.

At its heart, journalRAGE believes that every community deserves to be heard — and that the stories of LGBTQIA+ Liberians are part of Liberia’s story.

Gboko Stewart / Founder & Editor

Reporting what others overlook.

journalRAGE is an independent Liberian media platform dedicated to reporting on LGBTQIA+ lives, human rights and the issues shaping communities across Liberia.

Founded in 2019 by journalist Gboko Stewart, journalRAGE emerged in response to the bias, misinformation and hostility often found in media coverage of sexual and gender minorities. Its purpose was not simply to challenge negative reporting, but to create a space where stories could be told with accuracy, context and humanity.

Through investigative reporting, personal stories, commentary and public-interest journalism, journalRAGE brings attention to experiences that are too often overlooked or misrepresented. Its reporting documents discrimination and violence, but also examines public policy, access to justice, healthcare, community life and the people working for change.

The platform also recognizes that responsible journalism is essential to changing public understanding. By engaging with sensitive issues and supporting better reporting practices, journalRAGE contributes to a stronger media environment in which LGBTQIA+ people can be represented with fairness and dignity.
